Harry Assenmacher, Germany
Harry Assenmacher has developed forest investment and climate protection products since the nineties. In 1997 he established “CO2OL” as a non-profit organisation committed to sequester carbon emissions by reforestation. In the summer of 2005, he founded the Forest Finance Service GmbH.
This company is today's Forest Finance Group, and he has been its CEO up to now. Born in Lower Saxony in Germany in 1955, Harry Assenmacher has been active in forming public opinion on environmental issues for many years.
As a journalist and author Assenmacher has worked for various German print media such as the newspapers "Die Tageszeitung" and "Hamburger Morgenpost" or the magazines "Stern" and "Ökotest". From 1987 to 1993, he was chief editor of "fairkehr", the German magazine for environmental, leisure, travel and traffic issues as well as the CEO of the German Association of Traffic Participants (Verkehrsclub Deutschland), a nonprofit organisation that is committed to an environmentally and socially sustainable traffic policy.
Until 2000, he showed his professional commitment to environmental issues as the CEO of the publishing company of the League for the Environment and Nature Conservation, Germany (Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland, German Section of Friends of the Earth). Subsequently, he was engaged for two years as marketing manager for the Securvita Group in Hamburg and as chairman of the Securvita Holding AG, a group of companies offering alternative insurances and financial models.
